Why this location?
During the 1915 Flood
Near this location, the floodwaters' path began to widen. It washed out the streambanks of Mill Creek and severely damaged homes as debris and water rushed toward the lake. Several flood victims were later found in the bay. It took approximately 3 weeks for the flood waters to completely recede.
Today
The Tube now carries water underground for over 2 miles, tying together a large network of stormwater drains that flow to Lake Erie. The storm drains flow directly into Presque Isle Bay, which connects to Lake Erie through the channel.
